Role of the Child Specialist

The Child Specialist is a licensed mental health professional who serves in a neutral role on the Collaborative Divorce Team. When included in the process, the Child Specialist meets with the child(ren) and parents to identify the needs of the child(ren) and to share the voice of the child(ren) to allow parents to make more informed decisions about what is in the best interest of their child(ren). The Child Specialist can be an integral piece of the puzzle when parents are working with the professional team to develop a co-parenting plan that works for everyone, is developmentally appropriate and is in the best interest of the child(ren).
